It strikes a good balance between difficult and simple. If you like the idea of becoming relentlessly unstoppable once you unlock all the items and settle into your niche, the game is absolutely for you. The DLC is fire and you should put your hands on it, if you like the base game. The problems he talks about are real (the game may occasionally get janky in its chaos, some enemies from the DLC are quite tedious to deal with, and a couple annoying bugs make the very early game a bit slower than it should ideally be), but it's absolutely unfair to spend about 10 seconds on the new content ("new maps? New characters? New items? Yeah I mean, they're fine, they're fun, but ") and then proceed to demolish last RoR2's patch about problems that ultimately have a pretty small impact on the overall experience. There's also some hope that Gearbox (now intellectual owners of RoR2) will eventually consider expanding the game once again with new paid content.Īh, if you consider looking into the YT channels I posted here to get a better picture, ignore Woolie's last rant video. Developers are almost done with the remake of their first game, RoR Returns, then hopefully they'll give console players the attention they deserve. Just watch out for the DLC, which still hasn't come out on the console version. In the last 30days, RoR2 peaked with ~8.5k simultaneous active players Elden Ring (which is a game that isn't on the first pages anymore, but is definetely far from dead) managed to do about 37k. To give you an idea of the scale, the most known RoR2 YT channels (Woolie, Disputed Origin, both still very active) still manage to snatch out 50k-100k views with their last RoR2 vids. It's popular to the point that, rarely, I even get RoR2 memes on my shitposting telegram channels. Devil Daggers and Hyper Demon are among my absolute favorite games of all times, other Sorath believers here?) and RoR2 isn't one of them. Regarding the playerbase, I wouldn't say it's big, but honestly, I do play some games with a very limited active playerbase (e.g. It gets layers and layers of gameplay deep in its hardest gamemodes. If you like the genre, you really should at the very least try it. I think it's quite objective to say that it's one of the best roguelites of the last 10 years (reviews seem to confirm it). Great community, fantastic devs, and a new season just dropped (free battle pass that puts its rewards back into the loot pool once the season ends) I don't normally buy new games, but if a new DLC dropped tomorrow, I'd skip a meal so I could buy itĮdit: if you're looking for a game that has better multiplayer with randoms, I highly recommend Deep Rock Galactic. If you have PC and especially if you mod it, you'll have a fantastic experience. The one bad thing though is I heard it isn't the greatest on console. The guy who made the music did for the game what Phil Collins did for Tarzan. It really sets the vibe for every level and it's a banger for work music lol. I haven't heard or tried the multiplayer lobbies though. I have about 400 hrs in it and I still haven't unlocked everything or discovered all its secrets (yes, there are secret levels/characters/bosses).ĭo you want something multiplayer or single player? This game is super fun with friends, but single player alone is also just as fun. I'll do my best to give an unbiased answer lol However, they don't just appear in your inventory, they physically spawn, and if you have a griefer, then chances are somebody is going left without an item. Multiplayer etiquette can be tough sometimes.įor example, when fighting a boss with 4 players int hw game, 4 items will spawn once the boss is defeated. That being said communication is also difficult, text only- no voice chat. Multiplayer lobbies are somewhat few and far between, but I've always been able to get into a match if I set one up and wait about 10 min max. There's also a massive modding community, I still find new things to download and try to play.Ĭonsole version is shotty, glitchy, still doesnt have the DLC patched in, essentially abondoned. This game thrives off of power creep and it's so fun to get ahead of the curve and cleave everything in your path. The thing that hooked me in was that all unlockables are unlocked through tride and true gameplay. Drop in shoot, loot, and inevitably die.and try again. Levels are massive, lots to explore and little secrets to find Lots of characters to unlock and choose from, each dynamic and unique
